Job Description

Reports to: Livelihoods Team Leader

  • Assist the Livelihoods Team Leader to ensure UMN's Livelihoods interventions are innovative, at the cutting edge of good practice and risk taking particularly in the area of income generation and rural entrepreneurship including micro finance
  • Provide leadership, support and coaching to all programme officers working in livelihoods programmes and regularly monitor the progress
  • Assist the Team Leader for timely and effective planning, budgeting and reporting in relevant clusters
  • Receive the reports regularly from the relevant clusters and give feedback so that they can adequately document livelihoods programme work
  • Build and maintain relationship and communication with the Team Leader and Cluster Team Leaders with regard to the management of Programme Officers working in livelihoods
  • Facilitate between UMN partners and possible support organizations and donors
  • Assist the Team Leader for adequate funding to implement UMN’s Livelihoods programmes by providing relevant technical input and writing funding proposals and donor reporting as opportunity arise
  • Provide mentoring, technical guidance and advice to the cluster based officers in helping partners to develop effective and innovative livelihoods improvement programmes
  • Ensure advocacy issues relevant to improvement of rural livelihoods are addressed at all levels
  • Encourage forging of appropriate partnerships and networks at all levels inside and outside UMN
  • Coordinate within Sustainable Livelihoods technical area and integration into other Technical Areas of UMN
  • Ensure national contribution or impact is made in Sustainable Livelihoods by bringing the learning from the grassroots
