Job Description

Work Purpose: NER District Livelihoods officer will report to and work under the guidance of District Livelihood Coordinator to ensure effective implementation making sure the standards are met at all stages of implementation according to the project strategy. This position will be based in district and will require most of the time to travel to project areas in various parts of the district (at least 60%) to ensure implementation of project as per project strategy.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from recognized university with at least one year of field experience in Livelihood programming or Diploma in agriculture with at least five years of experiences in Livelihood programming the equivalent in a major NGO in a rural or remote district of Nepal in emergency context
  • Basic knowledge on the latest development thinking on Livelihood recovery  programming
  • Have some understanding on market led perspective in Livelihood programming
  • Understanding and appreciation of Livelihood programming that takes an empowerment approach including community-led activities and advocacy
  • Basic understanding program cycle including project planning, design, monitoring, evaluation
  • Carry out assessment local Livelihood/Market Assessment to inform implementation planning with the guidance of NER District Livelihood Coordinator
  • Work with implementing NGO partner to facilitate/ ensure identification of target groups and implementation of project activities accordingly.
  • Support implementing NGO partner to ensure project activities are carried out in timely manner with quality input and financial expenditure tracked and reported on accordingly through recommended tools/templates
  • Work with NGO partner to ensure project progress report and other reports (as required) in set time intervals and submitted.
  • Facilitate to implement activities in the field as per the plan
  • Facilitate target groups capacity building to undertake and manage project activities
  • Prepare monthly progress report on project progress 
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess whether activities are being done to the required standard. 
  • Coordinate with Local NGO Partners in respective district to ensure follow up of MoU, activities and progress through them
