Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable candidates to work with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP)- Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal GREEN. REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possesses a university degree in law or adequate training and relevant work experience for the position.

General Functions 

Under the direct supervision of the Legal Analyst Assistant, the incumbent will assist with the following tasks:

  • Assist in providing legal advices to the Legal Analyst, including searching of required items in relevant websites or documents
  • Assist the Legal Analyst in the communication with the election authorities at central level for all technical matters concerning the electoral process
  • Assist in attending the meetings with the Election Commission, with representatives of the contesting candidates and other relevant actors in the election process
  • Liaise with relevant actors in the election process (eg organise meetings, etc)
  • Assist in the preparation of Observers briefings, debriefings and team meetings
  • Assist in the meetings with individual Election Commission members, the international experts working in the Election Commission and NGOs (domestic and international)
  • involved in the elections process.Contribute to the preparation of Weekly Reports, the Preliminary Statement and the Final report
  • Prepare relevant templates (excel) for the database on complaints and appeals
  • Any other tasks as may be required

NOTE:

  • All positions are open to men and women with no discrimination
  • For all positions, a good linguistic competence (spoken and written) in both English and Nepali is mandatory
  • All candidates must have sufficient computer skills to operate with electronic mail, word processing, public presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Flexibility required. Work is expected on occasions both in the evenings and weekends or even public holidays
  • Place of work is Kathmandu
