LOCATION: Based in Kathmandu with frequent field visit (60%)
TEAM/PROGRAMME: MEAL 
CONTRACT LENGTH: December 31, 2016

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 2 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have some contact with or access to children or young people

ROLE PURPOSE: 
To create and sustain the information management system for the child protection portfolio.  To use this system to help generate knowledge through periodic trend analysis and to help track program implementation status. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • The Knowledge Management Officer-Child Protection will be responsible for the following:
  • Support  Child Protection team in thematic data management concerning the CP in Emergency  including revising the platform for the e-data management system 
  • Work with the MEAL and Child Protection team to ensure that this e-data management  system continues to enable seamless aggregation, analysis and reporting as the program grows in technical scope and scale
  • Coordinate with the MEAL, Food Security Livelihood and Education teams to explore e-data collection systems that can capture data electronically as close to the source as possible with specific focus on inter-sector programs
  • Be the focal point for weekly data collection that is being collected by the Child Protection team in the field.
  • Become the primary analyst for bi-weekly data analysis, highlighting trends and monitoring-related concerns, including producing dashboards to share with the CP sector.
  • Support to CPiE Senior Coordinator and Programme Coordinators with baseline, midterm, and final evaluations. Follow up on the collected information and check if more related information is needed and report that to the line manager
  • Support the Child Protection team in the design of new monitoring and evaluation tools including database, reporting and monitoring templates.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the documents and their content.
  • Support senior coordinator, CPiE in report writing, case study and documentation in regard to child protection projects.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with all other response team members (in all sectors) on activities that relate to data collection and information sharing.
  • Help the Programme  Coordinator  and officers, and also key Child Protection partners staff,  to build their capacity in efficient data collection and management processes, including support with software applications (this requires frequent field visits)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Management or related social science with 3 years’ experience in relevant field (*2 years for GSI group) and previous experience of doing data management and analysis
  • Excellent IT skills, with experience and/or training in terminology or in applications of computer.
  • Multitasking and time management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office. Preference for knowledge of other, more sophisticated data management software.
  • Nepali fluency required.
  • English proficiency required
