Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent attention to detail, outstanding teamwork, organisational and scientific skills, and someone keen to work at the interface between science and publishing. The person should have outstanding communication, organisation and management skills to deliver the work in a most effective way. The job holder will have to report to Chief Editor under the supervision of NMA Administrative Officer.

The person is responsible to effectively communicate with the peer reviewers, authors and editors in order to process the timely publication of Issues of Journal of Nepal Medical Association (JNMA). As the JNMA organises numerous educational and academic training programs, the individual in position must be able to organise such events, prepare event summary and correspond with the International speakers or guest speakers for the program. The individual is expected to diligently perform the assigned tasks within deadlines and assist in day to day activities of Nepal Medical Association.

Salary and Benefits: It will be according to the rules and regulation of Nepal Medical Association. Applicant must be willing to travel to various places within Nepal and abroad (if required).

Working Hours: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Mon-Sat) (Must be willing to work beyond the office hours when in need)

Duration: 6 months to 1 year (indefinite renewal subject to performance evaluation). Job recommendation letter will not be issued if the individual leaves without notice or breaches the contract.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assists and Reports to Chief Editor in day to day JNMA works
  • Correspond with National and International: authors, editorial board and peer reviewers
  • Correspond and Approach lecturers, Guest speakers, International Speakers for JNMA training
  • Assist in designing the journal issues for the print or work in Indesign software
  • Sensibly handling author queries with ease and answer manuscript status
  • Update the online database of JNMA, JNMA website and handle email queries
  • Must have the understanding and experience in event management
  • Must possess excellent report writing skills and reports writing as per requirements
  • Contribute creative and constructive ideas towards success of the JNMA

  • Experience/knowledge of working in publication environment
  • Excellent teamwork and organisation skills
  • Excellent in using social media and online communication software
  • Project management skills
  • Proven ability to juggle a high and varied workload to a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication and fluent in the English Language
  • Excellent Presentation Skills

  • Excellent Report Writing Skills
  • Demonstrate expertise in event management
  • Must have excellent command over computer and information technology
  • Excellent command over MS Word, Ms PowerPoint, MS Excel, Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and online publications, Gmail, Google Docs and social media
  • Dynamic and self-motivated
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Must possess strong organisational and time management skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of working (coding) in HTML, XML and working with MySQL is advantageous
  • Experience of writing scientific articles, research grants and report writing
  • Experience and knowledge of scientific research and publication
  • Knowledge of health system of Nepal
  • The experience of dealing with various organisations and stakeholders.
  • Young graduate or post graduate in public health with exceptional qualities
