Nari Jagaran Samaj (NJS) is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 2069 BS, and is actively involved in women development, humanitarian relief and recovery projects in Nepal for development. NJS in partnership with World Renew has successfully implemented shelter reconstruction project in Nuwakot.NJS in partnership with World Renew is looking to hire Program Coordinator (Agriculture) to implement livelihood recovery project in Kispang Rural Municipality

Duty Station: Nuwakot

District: Manakamana VDC.

Contract Type: Initial 3 month probation period with possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Conduct farmer field schools/FFS-IPM with the project beneficiaries
  • Provide technical supports to farmers on IPM and sustainable farming
  • Provide on the spot technical supports to farmers on improved farming, disease and pest control and management in target beneficiaries
  • Travel frequently to the communities/farmers and provide technical supports
  • Plan and effectively implement the field level agriculture and livestock activities based on DIP
  • Knowledge of farm design, livestock management, fruit and vegetable farming, seasonal staple crops farming
  • Effectively coordinate with the project team in identifying communities where agriculture and livestock interventions are most needed which could boost up agricultural production and bring about long-term effects in communities.
  • Demonstrated skill in cutting and grafting techniques, transplanting, and creating poly-houses construction and production.
  • Provide technical assistance to the community on how to improve sustainable agriculture practices and increase crop and livestock production.
  • Promote most suitable breeds of livestock and poultry and fodder species that adapt better to the local environment.
  • Make regular field visit to collect and data verification and support to follow M&E system at field level.  
  • Ensure that agriculture development strategies and activities are designed and implemented based on sound contextual analysis.
  • Conduct the various training related agriculture and livestock in community level
  • Collect report from community mobilizers and prepare weekly and monthly report and submit to team leader
  • Ensure all visit and training reports within a week of accomplishment
  • Ensure that lessons learnt, case studies and success stories are well documented and shared among the team
  • Knowledge to Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point

Qualification/Experience:

  • Successfully completed course of Agriculture Technicians (JTA) with 2 years relevant experiences
  • Having experience in Conduct farmer field schools/FFS-IPM training facilitation skills and documentation
  • Ability to coordinate with people, having high integrity and respect diversity
