NLR Nepal is a not-for-profit national organisation registered under Company Registration Act of Nepal in 2018. NLR is a member of NLR Alliance led by NLR Netherlands for providing technical and financial support to leprosy and disability programmes in seven countries including Nepal. 

NLR in Nepal, works closely with the government and non-government stakeholders and partners to eradicate leprosy from the country and to make all development initiatives inclusive to people affected by leprosy and disability.  NLR Nepal consists of 18 staff members and located at Sankhamul Marga, New Banewhwor Kathmandu with its field offices in Biratnagar and Dhangadhi covering province one and Sudur Pashchim Pradesh.

Description
In general terms the Field Program Coordinator (FC) will contribute to the functioning of the NLR Project Office and in this capacity he will be directly responsible and answerable to the NLR Representative in Nepal.

  • He/she will be in charge of and responsible for the functioning of the NLR project offices and for the performance of all staff involved 
  • He/she will adhere to the laws and regulations of Nepal and to the guidelines of NLR and of partners involved in the NLR Nepal projects.
  • His/her line of communication with NLR Head Office will be through the CR unless otherwise agreed upon by the Representative 

The role of the Field Program Coordinator is to plan the project activities with budget estimation and submit to CR for approval, and after getting approval execute, monitor, evaluate and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within approved budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors and/or consultants in order to implement projects according to plan and oversee quality control throughout the project cycle. The Field Program Coordinator will also coordinate activities with various government and non-government agencies and right holders and with the CR. 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to project development from beginning to end including define project scope, goals and deliverables that support organizational goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Draft and submit annual activity plan and budget proposals for approval, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, implementing partners and other related stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and propose to CR for appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle
  • Where required, negotiate with other project managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the organization
  • Contribute in setting and continually managing project expectations with team members, partners and other stakeholders
  • Involve in personnel management of the project office with good communication and problem solving, identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path with proper plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools to track project milestones and deliverables. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and propose contingency plans
  • Develop and deliver regular financial and physical progress reports, proposals, required documents, and presentations within determinedfrequency.
  • Facilitate, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and consultant and partners,motivate them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow cooperative relationships with related stakeholders and like minded organizations which is vital to the success of the project
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution including research/studies and management

Position Requirements

  • Masters degree in science or Public Health with 5 years work experience in leprosy and disability area in a project management capacity, including all aspects of project development and execution or Bachelors degree in Science or Public Health with 10 years of work experience in similar field
  • Experience in Leprosy, disability management/CBR, IT (information technology with strong involvement with project management & software, such as MS Office, Internet & Intranet, data designing & analysis software, application software
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management with experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and problem-solving capabilities with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 
  • Strong written and oral communication with good interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in conducting research and applying new technology in the projects.
