The Global Programme “Shaping development-oriented migration” (MEG) programme is commissioned by the  German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche  Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in 14 partner countries worldwide, including India, Nepal  and Viet Nam. On behalf of the BMZ, the MEG assists partner countries in implementing gender-responsive measures.  As the conversation around migration is highly politicised, it is important that the programme’s communication: 

  • Highlights the gendered nature of migration, for example, the challenges that women and marginalised groups   face that may differ from other groups 
  • Is presented in a gender-sensitive manner 
  • Sheds light on migration in a holistic manner by also showing the benefits of migration 
  • Is presented in a politically sensitive manner 
  • Showcases the “human element”, and puts forward the work that the diaspora (for example) is doing and their   impact 

The global programme “Shaping Development-Oriented Migration” (MEG) aims to provide communication training  to equip participants with practical tools for planning and executing their communications in a gender-sensitive and  politically sensitive manner. For this training, MEG is seeking a suitable consultant who can equip participants with the  necessary knowledge to effectively reach their target groups and inspire the desired actions. 

Eligibility Criteria:  

  1. The consultant needs to have obtained a relevant academic degree (Masters) in the field of communications or  any other related subject.  
  2. Professional experience: 7 years of experience with development cooperation projects, experience in  communications is required. Experience in the planning and delivery of trainings the area of communications in  the context of in international development cooperation.  
  3. Language requirements: Business fluency in English (C2) and German (B2), according to the CEFR. 

Interested organizations should submit the EOI electronically via email [email protected] by 20th February 2025  (5:00 PM), highlighting their strengths and experience in communication, as well as gender and migration topics,  and with the supporting documents. Only  shortlisted candidates will receive the specific Terms of References including the evaluation grid and be invited to  submit a detailed, costed project proposal.
