About The Asia Foundation
The Asia Foundation (the Foundation) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization committed to the development of a peaceful, prosperous, just, and open Asia-Pacific region. The Foundation supports programs in Asia that help improve governance, law, and civil society; women's empowerment; economic reform and development; and international relations. Drawing on more than 50 years of experience in Asia, the Foundation collaborates with private and public partners to support leadership and institutional development, exchanges, and policy research.
I. Background of the program
The extended school closures during the covid-19 pandemic have had a profound impact on the education and psychosocial well-being of children across marginalized and rural communities. The education sector faces immediate and potentially significant long-term impacts of the pandemic with especially severe consequences for early- and primary-level students across the country. Isolation and disrupted daily lives for young children and adolescents have led to increased stress, anxiety, and depression. In recognition of all these factors, young children and adolescents have been found to be at high risk for developing mental health and psychosocial issues like substance abuse disorder or suicidal ideation and behavior.
The Education Support Program, funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and implemented by the Foundation, is an emergency response to the impact brought about by Covid-19 on schools, parents, and children. It is being implemented in seven of the Foundation’s partner municipalities including Damak, Mithila, Bhimeshwor, Waling, Tansen, Birendranagar, and Tikapur.
The program supports collaborations between local governments, guardians, teachers, and school officials to promote children’s reading growth and create positive and impactful reading experiences. In addition, the Foundation works exclusively to raise psychosocial awareness for vulnerable children and adolescents to increase their resilience to various repercussions brought about by Covid-19. The program conducts psychosocial counseling training sessions to equip teachers and parents with basic psychosocial skills that enable them to manage stress, increase resilience, and recognize the prevailing mental health and psychosocial issues in children. The program supports activities to inform the local governments, parents, and teachers about the psychosocial needs of the children and available referrals for them to create inclusive support for children.
II. About the project
The Foundation is seeking the services of a multimedia company to design, produce and promote a series of two-minute informational YouTube videos on substance abuse, suicide, and various other topics related to adolescent mental health and psychosocial support. The video message will be targeted to children and adolescents from the seven municipalities contributing to the program's existing objectives and indirectly to all children and adolescents from Nepal.
The company shall produce and promote approximately five videos in close collaboration with the Foundation team. The details of the assignment are given below:
Length: Each of the five videos should be of 2-3 minutes in duration
Location: The design and production should be carried out in Kathmandu
Audience: The videos should cater to children and adolescents in urban and rural areas, and should be child/adolescent friendly
Languages: The videos should be in Nepali, except for the technical and scientific terms used.
III. Scope of work
In coordination with the program team and the communications team at The Asia Foundation Nepal, the production company will be responsible for the following:
- Design the entire campaign concept and work plan
- Design and execute all aspects of the video production
- Execute the promotion campaign as per the work plan
- Maintain compliance with the branding and marking guidelines of DFAT and the Foundation
The company will closely coordinate with the program team throughout the production and promotion phase, especially for the content development of the videos.
IV. Project Timeline (tentative)
- Proposals shall be submitted no later than December 15, 2022
- All proposals will be assessed thereafter, and the production company will be brought on board by January 5, 2023
- Launching the videos in mid-April 2023
V. Budget
The proposed budget for this project is Rs. 1,500,000.00. Please adhere your financial proposal to this amount.

VII. Criteria for the consulting firm
- Proven track record of content and video production as well as promotion on YouTube and various social media platforms like Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook. Videos/content on social issues would be an advantage.
- Track record of work with NGOs/INGOs on similar video production assignments.
- Technical proficiency and the ability to adapt to the proposed timeline
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in video production.
- Demonstrated capacity and availability of necessary skills among the staff to undertake and complete the project.
