RECOFTC is implementing its program in Nepal through its local entity- Center for People and Forests known as RECOFTC Nepal. Center for people and forests - RECOFTC Nepal is inviting applicants for the position of Assistant Program Officer (APO). The successful applicant will be based in the RECOFTC Nepal office in Lalitpur, Nepal. The contract duration is for 12 months with a possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Promoting community forestry and sustainable forest management, RECOFTC has been working in Nepal for more than two decades. While RECOFTC’s engagement in Nepal has been ongoing, in 2014, RECOFTC formally set up its office in Kathmandu. RECOFTC’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Forests and Environment encompasses collaboration and cooperation in specific areas, such as: research, policy development, capacity building, technical assistance, and land use planning and development. In addition, RECOFTC is registered with the Social Welfare Council of the Government of Nepal as an international non-governmental organization, and has worked with a range of stakeholders and partners, including: President of the Chure-Terai Madhesh Conservation Development Board; Federation of Community Forestry User Groups (FECOFUN); The Himalayan Grassroots Women's Natural Resource Management Association (HIMAWANTI); ForestAction Nepal; CARE Nepal; and various departments within the Ministry of Forests and Environment, such as the Department of Forests (DoF) and REDD+ Implementation Center.
