Himalayan Herbs Trader is an association of indigenous women entrepreneurs from Humla District in northwestern Nepal, near the Tibetan Border (see map). It has been producing and exporting wild herbal products for many years. All of our products are free of chemicals and additives. The products are collected and manufactured by local people.
We give 5% of our profits to educating needy children from Humla.
Himalayan Herbs Trader is well aware of its environmental impact, and is affiliated with a local NGO called Himalayan Conservation and Development Association (HCDA), which has long experience in community-based natural resource management systems in Humla. HCDA's non-timber forest products development strategy insists on sustainable harvesting to preserve unique environments and enhance the economic well being of thousands of small scale collectors. When people understand the economic value of well-managed forests, they have a vested interest in conserving them.
Tenzin and Laiku Lama are directors of Sunny Trekking and Himalayan Herbs Trader, both of which support many people in Humla. They have created Sun Valley Resort, where you can enjoy the traditional hospitality of this remote mountain culture and see where and how our products are made.
