USAID’s Strengthening Systems for Better Health (SSBH) Activity is a 6-year project aimed at improving health outcomes in Nepal, particularly for the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups in the country. SSBH supports the Government of Nepal’s efforts to expand access to and use of quality maternal, newborn and child health and family planning services, with a specific focus on newborn care and is designed to achieve three major outcomes:

(i) improving access to and utilization of equitable healthcare services,
(ii) improving the quality of 
health services at facility and community levels and
(iii) improving health systems governance, within the context 
of federalism.

The project is implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population at federal level and with provincial and municipal governments, health facilities and other key health sector stakeholders at sub-national levels.

Supervisor: Administrative Assistant

The Driver, under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant, provides efficient, safe and professional driving services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Program vehicles throughout the target geographic area of the project, at all times, ensuring the safety of passengers and vehicle and adhering to stringent organizational policies and regulations regarding driving and vehicle use, as well as local traffic laws.
  • Clean and maintain project vehicles – responsible for keeping vehicles in pristine condition, adhering to strict maintenance routines and ensuring that any defect is acted upon immediately.
  • Perform other administrative tasks on behalf of the project including but not limited to purchasing, collecting goods or documents, making administrative arrangements and handling check payments, both within Kathmandu and during field activities.
  • When required, handling, disbursing and accounting for funds responsibly on behalf of Strengthening Systems for Better Health.
  • Act as a representative of Strengthening Systems for Better Health, at all times being responsive and providing courteous support to visitors, clients, and partners.
  • Carry out any other lawful duties necessary to accomplish project objectives as assigned by the supervisor and/or designate

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Secondary School Certificate; related additional qualifications a plus
  • Clean Driver’s License
  • Over 6 years driving experience, of which at least 3 years’ experience working as a driver; experience with donor-funded projects is preferred
  • Basic computer skills required including familiarity with email and word processing. Ability to use excel spreadsheets is also preferred
  • Experience and proven ability to handle and account for funds responsibly
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Presentable and able to interact professionally with partners and clients
