The World Bank Group is a multilateral development organization, one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries.

In an effort to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the World Bank Group is seeking individuals from marginalized communities in Nepal as trainees. The objective is to give individuals from marginalized communities broad exposure to working in a development agency.

On behalf of the World Bank Group in Nepal, Mero Job Limited, invites applications from Nepali candidates belonging to marginalized communities including dalits, and gender and sexual minorities.

The program will recruit three trainees for a six-month traineeship with on-the-job training assignments with access to mentoring and practical experiences in an international working environment. Opportunities for prospective trainees are available in different departments of the World Bank Group. 

Responsibilities:

Each trainee will be paired with a supervisor and will support a broad range of administrative and other tasks. A specific scope of work for each trainee will be identified in consultation with each supervisor. The range of tasks can include the following:

  • Help coordinate, schedule, and organize meetings, conferences, and other events
  • Assist teams with basic research and provide support to the task teams on the operations side, depending on the team’s needs and the trainee’s capacity
  • Assist with editing and formatting documents, minutes, and correspondence. Additionally, help manage documents and maintain records.
  • Assist in managing documents and record-keeping 
  • Support teams with logistical tasks such as printing of documents, dispatching letters to clients, communicating with vendors, etc.
  • Support teams in preparing logistics, correspondence, and coordination for events 
  • Learn on-the-job basic communications tasks, including media monitoring, digital communications, communications, editorial calendars, etc.
  • Assist in updating internal database on key stakeholders, sectoral experts and leaders  
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor

Selection Criteria:

The minimum selection criteria for the applicants are given below:

  • Either a high school diploma (+2 degree) with at least two years of work experience Or bachelor level (enrolled with at least first two years completed)  
  • Good communication skills in English and Nepali 
  • Must be computer literate and have good knowledge of MS Office software 
  • Belong to a marginalized community including LGBTIQA+, persons with disability, Madhesis, Tharus, Muslims, Dalits, Janajatis 
  • Prior administrative work experience is preferred

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their responses to the questions 
  • The response will undergo a plagiarism check, and if it is determined that the content is not an original creation by you, your application will be declined.

The deadline for application is 23:55 hrs. Sunday, September 29, 2024. 

A stipend, including the Social Security Fund contributions, as per the prevailing Labor Act of Nepal, will be provided to successful candidates during the traineeship period. Trainees will be contracted by Mero Job Limited (contracted company by the World Bank Group). Selected candidates are expected to join the organization on November 18, 2024.

This program is not a full-time employment and extension of contract is not expected.

Mero Job Limited do not charge fee at any stage of recruitment (application, interview, processing, training, or any other stage).

Candidates with close relatives working in the World Bank Group are not eligible to apply for this traineeship. Close relatives are Mother, Father, Sister, half-sister, Brother, Half-brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, and Nephew.
