Background:

UKaid सीप is brokering transformational partnerships with the private and public sector to propel growth of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in priority sectors – commercial agriculture, light manufacturing, tourism, ICT, and construction – primarily in Province 2 and Lumbini Province. सीप uses an innovative Challenge Fund to expand market-aligned skilling, affordable financial products, and ethical migration services linked to gainful livelihoods for Nepali youth—especially migrant returnees, women, and other socially and economically excluded groups. To date, सीप has partnered with 13 private sector partners.

Role and Responsibilities:

Achieving the impact envisioned by UKaid सीप will require awareness, recognition, and support from the private sector, Government of Nepal, public, and the development community. The Director of Strategic Communications, Learning, and Inclusion will play a crucial role in engaging with key stakeholders in a thoughtful and consistent manner to inform perspectives and to enable progress. S/he will oversee and support the programme’s outreach and communications to key stakeholders by drawing on progress and learnings unfolding through सीप partners to disseminate relevant, engaging content using a range of a diverse tools and tactics. S/he will also guide and support partners to integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and safeguarding initiatives more meaningfully to create more inclusive, empowering, and safer workspaces in the private sector by building on the programme’s GESI and Safeguarding knowledge and efforts.

  • Working closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning and Skills and Migration component teams, generate analytical and informative knowledge and communication products, including case studies, impact stories, and progress snapshots to highlight the programme’s progress, learnings, and impact to inform and inspire recognition, and replication and scale-up of सीप’s efforts. Promote learning within the सीप’ team as well through knowledge-sharing and tracking of actions based on learning.  
  • Creatively use the information and insights from team and partners, to ensure regular upkeep and deployment of सीप’s communication platforms such a Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Website and tools such as partnership fact sheets, partner profile snapshot, UKaid सीप two-pager, impact summary, and newsletter. These platforms and tools are meant to generate visibility and goodwill and broader support for the important work of सीप and its partners.  
  • Serve as the technical resource for सीप partners to guide design and implementation of effective communication and stakeholder engagement strategies/plans as well as inclusion and safeguarding initiatives. 
  • In coordination with the team, organize strategic engagements – such as panel discussions, partnership/Challenge Fund launches, research-oriented and learning events, and monitoring field trips – with सीप partners and key external stakeholders from the employment and migration system. 
  • Provide quality control support for programme reports and deliverables to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Requirements for the Position 

  • Master’s degree in economics/business administration or equivalent with demonstrable knowledge of social media marketing, qualitative research/data analysis, and event management. 
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience (preferably in sectors of सीप’s interest noted above)
  • Familiarly with FCDO programmes particularly with regard to private sector engagement and Challenge Fund approach will be an asset
  • Strong written and oral communications skills given requirements for drafting public communication and knowledge products and leading presentations
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications; graphic design skills will be an asset
