Consultant for production on animated video on Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Referral Mechanism system
Introduction:
Women Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC Nepal) is a movement based organization that functions with the premise of women rights and social justice as a prerequisite for peace, social justice, and sustainable development. From over 29 years, WOREC has established itself as leading national organization that works to prevent violence against women, its causes and consequences, ensure its economic, social-cultural well-being of women as well as other marginalized groups by promoting their access to rights and social justice. Under this program WOREC has been working with integrated preventive and responsive mechanism and approach against SGBV among Persons of Concern (POCs) in Kathmandu.
Therefore, we require services of firms or individuals with experience to develop animated video story on the issues of GBV and Referral Mechanism System. It will be especially focused on the types of GBV, impact and consequences of GBV and referral mechanism system. WOREC will make awareness material by covering all the issues of SGBV targeting on women and girls from POCS including with host community.
Background
Sexual and Gender Based violence (SGBV) is deeply rooted in individual attitudes that condone violence within the family and the community. SGBV has been both a cause of displacement and a consequence of the breakdown of family and community structures that accompany displacement. At present, 44% urban Person of Concerns (PoCs) in Kathmandu are women and girls. In 2018, a proactive communication and outreach programme worked to ensure that the protection concerns raised by women/girls were identified and responded to in a timely manner. The health consequences of SGBV are numerous and can include HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections and communicable diseases; unwanted and early pregnancy; and physical trauma. Although many survivors are unwilling or unable to seek medical care and other supportive interventions, for women and children who have been abused, health services are often the primary need among other SGBV services.
Achieving gender equality requires that men, women, boys and girls be provided with equal opportunities and responsibilities. The project will adopt the multi-sectoral and inter-generational collaboration within the given setting especially with women and adolescents girls. In addition, the project aims to collectively deliver preventive mechanism to women, men, girls and boys while empowering individuals and communities, and ensure that all aspects of the response contribute to an enabling environment for the rights and well-being of the community. Accordingly, prevention and response initiatives are improved and the women are recognized as resources and rights holders.
The project aims to continue efforts to transfer knowledge that educates all PoCs and creates a high level of awareness about risks of discrimination and the protection challenges faced by women and girls, linked to their gender, age and background. This helps to create an environment conducive for gender equality and general inclusive practices including, age and diversity-sensitive approaches, appropriate prevention and response strategies, tools and planning instructions, and developing concrete actions that enable behavioural change and capacity building to increase, where possible, preventative and responsive measures in the context of SGBV and aim toward minimizing their causes and incidents.
