Computer technician generally interact directly with users, so both technical skills and interpersonal skills are important characteristics to develop. Maintenances are the first part of their job. Not just the computer, they also have to perform maintenances services on all other computer related equipment. They should know about the hardware and software of the computer through and through.

Responsibilities of Computer Technician

• Installing software or hardware as per the staff requirement
• Maintain the assets record of IT Equipment
• Communication and Coordinating with ISP and Vendors which supply the IT Equipment.
• Maintenance and Planning on Network and Telephone line.
• knowledge on Windows Server, Linux Server and Network security
• Computer technicians use their knowledge of computer hardware, laptops and peripherals, such as printers, to respond to help desk calls and troubleshoot user problems.
• Technicians assess the problem, determine what's wrong and then recommend or perform minor repairs. Examples of repairs can include replacing hardware components, reconfiguring operating systems or upgrading software.
• More complex repairs might require the technician to pull the computer out of use for comprehensive troubleshooting or replacement.
• Determining and installing appropriate security measures
• Expertise in systems, network hardware and software.
• Ability to work independently, skills to creatively troubleshoot of hardware and Networking and ability to express oneself clearly in both oral and written mode.
• Understanding of computing procedures, standards and desktop and network configurations.
• Provide basis hardware, software, and application support for a department which may have multiple locations and/or complex technical environment including specialized technologies or systems that must interface with the network.
• Monitor and oversee the unit’s Local Area Network (LANs) and PCs, which require an operational understanding of the unique systems or applications of the unit and their implication for the technical infrastructure.
• Configuring computer networks with maintaining and repairing other equipment
• Execute software flashing programming and other similar support activities.
• New laptops might be configured at the technician's desk and then handed over to users.
• Computer technicians also install upgrades and configure new computers and printers.
• Software installations include operating systems, general office applications and specialized software
• A candidate should have knowledge of software that helps in maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specification:

• Knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software. This includes Microsoft programs such as Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Skillful in interpersonal, time management, communication, problem solving skills
• Familiarity with the internet and internet browsers including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office and MS Excel.
• Ability document procedures that are easily understood by others.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Candidate preferred with a strong communication skills are a must.
• Ability to generate expense and other financial reports in excel.
• Fluency in English and Nepali essential ( both oral and written)
• Ability to work in a team.
• Able to work under pressure and deadline.
