Deloitte is seeking qualified Senior Level candidates for the anticipated multi-year, USAID Udhyam Nepal. The goal of this Activity will be to support broad-based, market-led growth and competitiveness by an integrated and sustainable market-systems approach to address both private sector and public sector constraints to micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development and competitiveness. The program will address three areas:

Component 1: Access to market-based financial and non-financial services improved
Component 2: Productivity in sectors with high growth and employment potential increased
Component 3: Improved investment climate and business enabling environment, especially for targeted sectors
Component 4: Private sector led economic recovery supported 

Component Lead Description: 

The component Lead is responsible for the implementation of the technical work under his/her component.  It is his/her responsibility to guide and/or redirect the focus of individual tasks of the activity to achieve the results in response to rapidly changing conditions or opportunities. She/he reports directly to the Chief of Party is responsible for establishing and maintaining constructive working relationships with stakeholders spanning the public sector, private sector, and civil society in Nepal and with other development partners and USAID implementers. The component lead should have a depth of knowledge and experience working in relevant fields to their component. 

Component Lead Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of private sector development experience with technical competency in providing firm-level assistance (most desirable), workforce development, macroeconomic policy, or business enabling environment
  • Project director or component lead experience on USAID or other donor funded projects of similar size and scope ($15 million or more) desired
  • Deep expertise in policy advocacy, market-based solutions to increase access to financial and non-financial services, SME development, trade and investment initiatives, investment promotion or other relevant topic required
  • Experience in Southern and Central Asia preferred
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Industry knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: food processing or other agri-business, transport and logistics, tourism, textiles, manufacturing, information and communication technology, and professional services

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide overall project leadership, management oversight, and technical direction
  • Reside in Kathmandu, Nepal and serve as the key liaison with government counterparts, and local partners
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel, consultants, and subcontractors, including technical implementation, finance, administration, training, and donor relations
  • Design and lead technical activities and deliverables
  • Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
  • Lead implementation of the strategic, long-term programmatic vision of the project
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
  • Manage risks of project implementation and implement risk mitigation techniques
