Communication Specialist-1 Position

Purpose: The postion holder provides expert support to teams and local partners in producing high quality communications and media materials for internal and external stakeholders. This includes programme publications, multimedia and online contents, proof reading and translation of key policies and ensuring the global brand is in each of its publications and contents as per the branding guidelines. S/he will contribute in preparing communication items as guided by the Communications Manager.

Term and Location: Fixed term employment for 3 years based in Country Office, Lalitpur

  • Required Qualifications & Experiences:
  • Master degree in communications, or media or any relevant field
  • At least 5 years of experience particularly in development communications; writing on social issue, particularly girls and boys, producing creative contents for various publications and online tools, designing key messages for different targeted audiences. 
  • Good understanding and knowledge of development communications, media practice, trend, challenges and opportunities for promoting good work 
  • Good knowledge of effective communications means, online tools; updating and creating content using various applications (CMS, Drupal) 
  • Basic knowledge of child rights programming, gender transformative and inclusive strategies and development programming
  • Knowledge in production of campaign communications related materials 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support on communications in various programme development & implementation and suggest appropriate and innovative communications approaches, tools and
  • Coordinate and work with programme team at Country and field offices & partners to identify and prioritize the major issues on communications and prepare plans to address those issues
  • Supervise Plan International's communications product with highest quality layout of various publications, IEC and BCC materials, audio and video including visibility materials ensuring brand elements
  • Provide technical guidance to various teams (programme, influencing, M&E, business development) on strategic communications including the partners of Plan International Nepal to achieve the goal of country strategy through utilisation of communications channels
  • Ensure the quality of various publications such as programme related fact sheets, information leaflets, learning documents, campaign and advocacy brief, including materials to various audiences and communications outlet; national and international and disseminate to its targeted audiences
  • Identify and prepare creative and engaging online, social media content on programme work and organisational priority with relevant updates on timely manner having the content strategy and plans in place
  • Lead in the development of campaign activities in consultation with team aligning with the global focus and the priority of the country programme work
  • Execute the campaign related activities at national and provincial level aligning with programme work and support to the field team for consistency and clarity about the campaign messaging 
  • Coordinate and work with programme team at Country and field offices including partners to identify and prioritise the major issues on communications and prepare plans to address those issues
  • In coordination with programme and influencing, research and knowledge team produce communications materials such as success and achievements in the form of flyers, brochures, leaflet, short reports etc. videos based on project outcomes and approaches and prepare appropriate communications plan and its implementation
