Call for Emergency Health Unit Primary Health Care Team Response Roster

This team will provide health interventions with speed and quality during humanitarian crises. Teams of doctors, nurses, midwives, and mental health professionals will be deployed to affected areas to provide primary health care services immediately after disaster strikes. As a member of the roster you will receive online induction to Save the Children to prepare for deployments. We will call upon you to be hired when disaster strikes and you will only be compensated when deployed. 

 

General Requirements: 

  • Registered in relevant professional council to practice in Nepal
  • Willing to be deployed anywhere in the country with short notice and work  for the required time (up to 12 weeks)
  • Complete online training to prepare for deployments
  • Participate in training to prepare for deployments 
  • Fluent in written and spoken Nepali and English

Medical Doctor:

  • Required: Licensed to practice medicine in Nepal with valid NMC number, familiar with MOH clinical guidelines
  • Examine and prescribe appropriate treatment; provide immediate emergency treatment in areas of need; refer patients requiring specialized care to secondary care as needed
  • Keeps accurate patient records according to standard protocols
  • Previous experience with I/NGO is preferred

Nurse: 

  • Required: Licensed Nurse in Nepal with valid Nursing Council number, familiar with MOH clinical guidelines 
  • Triage, assess, treat, monitor, provide teaching, and discharge patients as per doctor’s directions
  • Manage drugs and equipment
  • Keeps accurate records of patients according to standard protocols and doctor’s instructions
  • Previous experience with I/NGO is preferred

Midwife:

  • Required: Licensed Midwife in Nepal with valid professional council number, familiar with MOH clinical guidelines
  • Clinical management of clients including ANC, PNC, FP PAC
  • Manage emergency deliveries when needed; Refer complex or life-threatening cases and other patients requiring specialized care 
  • Keep accurate patient records
  • Previous experience with I/NGO is preferred

Mental Health and Psychosocial Expert:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in psychology
  • Conduct assessment on mental health and psychosocial issues and needs, recommend and/or develop appropriate intervention strategies
  • Provide Mental health and psychosocial support counselling
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Conduct community-awareness-raising activities on mental health and mobilize community participation
  • Previous experience with I/NGO is preferred
