During the 11 months long training programme, the trainees were deployed at various UN agencies like UN Women, World Health Organization (WHO), Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Development programme (UNDP)/Residents Coordinators Office & United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“The Traineeship Programme provided me with an opportunity to get involved in various activities like  market research, preparing solicitation of documents, scoring bids/proposal, etc.”, says Mr. Amir Limbu, UN Trainee at Procurement Unit – UNDP. Along with this, I was also able to develop skills like negotiation & communication, relationship management, team work and many more, he said.

A programme dedicatedly designed and developed for professional and personal development of University graduates from socially excluded groups, the trainees were successful in developing professional skills for enhancing their employability prospects in the competitive job market.

“I am very thankful to Real Solutions and the United Nations for providing me with such an opportunity. Being physically disabled has always presented me with challenges in the job market”, says Ms. Rita Singh, one of the trainees at UNTP Cohort V. “The on-the-job training really has uplifted my confidence level as I have learnt a lot during the traineeship period”, she added.

Similarly, the mentors to these trainees have also demonstrated a high level of satisfaction with their trainees. Ability to work with diverse workforce, teams, commitment, can-do-attitude and eagerness to learn are some of the some skills sought after by the mentors in their trainees.

“Working in the Communications team at UNICEF has broadened my set of skills & competencies”, said Ms. Anita Lama. After the completion of the programme, I feel that i am well equipped with communication skills like media monitoring, administration, MS Office, planning & organizing, etc., she added.
