Deloitte is seeking the services of an experienced Agriculture Sector Finance Specialist to support the development of a demand model for agricultural finance in a number of agricultural value chains in Nepal. On a short-term basis, the Consultant will support Deloitte to capture and validate a series of financial, operational, and market data points through secondary research, interviews with market participants and investors, and analysis.

The Consultant must have demonstrable experience in the Agriculture sector in Nepal and a clear understanding of private sector market participants Deliverables, Tasks and/or Outputs

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide brief profiles of six target agricultural value chains, including overviews of the production areas in Nepal, primary inputs, level of automation/mechanization of operations, export volumes and destinations, and summaries of major opportunities and challenges in the value chain.

Collect and/or verify data points and assumptions to be provided by Deloitte about operations, finance, and cost estimates for factor inputs in six target value chains. The Consultant should take special care to capture and provide clear citations for the source of data points and analysis.

Deliverables may include:

• Six value chain profiles (no more than 1 page each)
• Excel spreadsheet with validated operating and capital cost assumptions for six agricultural value chains (Garlic, Tomato, Chili, Cauliflower, Ginger, and Capsicum)

Qualifications/Requirements:

The Consultant should have the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years working in the areas of agriculture, agriculture finance, or related field in Nepal
• Experience and understanding of agriculture sector structures and market dynamics
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
• Demonstrated experience working with USAID, IFIs, government, and private sector institutions is preferred
